By Peter Okutu
ABAKALIKI—TRADITIONAL rulers, leaders of thought and key stakeholders in Ebonyi State, weekend, threw their weight behind Governor Martin Elechi’s power shift to the South senatorial district of the state in 2015 general election.
They described the action of the governor as an act of inspiration, maturity and fair mindedness as it would foster the peace and unity of the state.
This was contained in the communique issued at the end of the peace and development meeting of leaders of Ikwo Noyo clan.
The leaders further called on sons and daughters of Ikwo Noyo clan to remain steadfast and committed to the governor until he completed a smooth and successful transition on May 29, 2015.
The communique read: “We call on His Excellency, Chief Martin Elechi, to respond affirmatively to the tremendous clamour and agitation by citizens of Ebonyi Central senatorial zone to pick the mandate and represent them in Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“We call on his Excellency to create time and embark on the commissioning of some of the impressive projects he has executed for Ebonyi people so that the record of his legacy will claim a pride of place in history.”
